Dr FEELGOOD (Rhythm & Blues)
Dr FEELGOOD was the ultimate working band. From their formation in 1971 to lead vocalist Lee Brilleaux's untimely death in 1994, the band never left the road, playing hundreds of gigs every year. Throughout their entire career, Dr. Feelgood never left simple, hard-driving rock & roll behind, and their devotion to the blues and R&B earned them a devoted fan base. While the group's stripped-down, energetic sound paved the way for English punk rock in the late '70s, their back-to-basics style was overshadowed by the dominance of punk and new wave, and the group had retreated to cult status by the early '80s. Brilleaux (vocals, harmonica), Johnson (guitar), and John B. Sparks(bass) had all played in several blues-based bar bands around Canvey Island, England before forming Dr. Feelgood in 1971. Lee Brilleaux replaced them with Buzz Barwell and Pat McMullen and continued touring.
GUNDOGS (Grunge/Rock/Pop)
In a culture of music defined by the sale of sonic snake-oil to a youth crying out for a new standard, GUNDOGS present themselves as the antidote...Despite having come from very different backgrounds, GUNDOGS were all raised in the broken heart of the industrial Midlands, and remain acutely aware of the disillusionment that the area continues to enfranchise across generations...The desire to excel and to achieve way beyond expectations has become GUNDOGS' mission-statement. The band was fused together two and a half years ago by a mutual love for the fierce individuality of acts like Prince, Pixies and Madonna, the unbridled savagery of the Pistols and the Clash.
VICE SQUAD (Punk/Rock/Blues)
Vice Squad formed in 1978 with an initial line-up of Beki Bondage (vocals), Dave Bateman (guitar), Mark Hambly (bass), and Shane Baldwin (drums). The first release by the band was the track "Nothing", which was included on the 1979 compilation Avon Calling. Their debut single "Last Rockers" was well-received, selling over 20,000 copies and spending almost forty weeks in the UK Indie Chart. Their debut album, No Cause For Concern, was released in late 1981, reaching number 32 in the UK Album Chart. On returning from the US, Bondage announced that she was leaving the band.
